Commissioner of Police, Kano State, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has warned criminals to stay away, promising them baptism of fire. Already, 18 suspected criminals have been arrested:
“I am committed to upholding the highest standard of professionalism, integrity and accountability. My mission is to ensure peace. We are going to imbibe community policing and apply professionalism in discharging our duties.
“I have deployed some operatives of the tactical team to strategic areas to ensure safety. We have working relationship with other security agencies, vigilance groups and hunters to compliment our efforts.
“I have warned officers to shun corruption, illegal duties and illegal detention. They should respect the Police Act. The personnel should be disciplined professionals and respect fundamental rights of the people. Our officers should conduct themselves with decorum and alertness to promote intelligence policing proactive crime prevention strategies and community engagement.
“Police arrested 10 suspected armed robbers and kidnappers at Badawa Layout, Kano. The suspects confessed involvement in a series of armed robbery incidents in Kano and Abuja.
“The Rapid Response Team (RRT), through intelligence, led to the arrest of some suspects at Zango Quarters, Kano.
“I have visited flashpoints along Kano-Kaduna Expressway and Kano-Jigwa Expressway. Some operatives were redeployed to checkmate criminals. I have lectured my officers, including DPOs and area commanders, to always be alert. We have enhanced security measures for Ramadan. We will intensify security measures around places of religious activities and markets.
“Inspector-General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun’s vision is to fight crime and criminality, uphold justice, fairness, protect human dignity and restore standard and values. We will engage in robust and effective human and technical intelligence gathering process to enhance the capacity of personnel. Today, Kano State is safe. We appreciate efforts of the public and stakeholders for giving us vital information, helping us to flush out criminals out of the state.”
