Bayern Munich stunned Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu with a 2-1 victory in their UEFA Champions League quarter-final first leg, putting the German side in control ahead of the return fixture.
The visitors struck first through Luis Díaz, who finished clinically just before half-time after a slick attacking move.
Then, moments after the restart, Harry Kane doubled Bayern’s lead with a composed strike only 20 seconds into the second half, marking his return from injury in style.
Real Madrid responded through Kylian Mbappé, who pulled one back in the 74th minute after connecting with a low cross from Trent Alexander-Arnold.
However, the hosts were repeatedly denied by veteran goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, who produced a remarkable nine saves to preserve Bayern’s advantage.

Speaking after the game, Kane admitted the job is far from done despite the win.
“We’re in a good position, but it’s a one-goal lead… it can change really quick so we have to stay focused,” he said.
Real Madrid manager Álvaro Arbeloa remained optimistic, insisting his side can still turn the tie around. “We are still alive, and we will go there with hope that we can win in Germany,” he said.
The result leaves the tie finely balanced heading into the second leg at the Allianz Arena, where Bayern will look to finish the job while Madrid chase another famous European comeback.
