From Emmanuel Uzor, Awka
Anambra State Governor Prof Chukwuma Soludo has revealed that he served his predecessor, Willie Obiano in two big capacities for years without receiving salaries.
Soludo disclosed this in a meeting with the appointees of the former Governor at the Prof Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre, Awka where he subtly dashed their hope of receiving severance package.
Daily Sun reported that the former appointees have been demanding payment of unpaid severance allowances from the Soludo government that run into millions of naira.
They argued that there was an agreement that not only that they would be paid severance allowances by the Soludo administration but that there was also a pact that Soludo should inherit them as his aides.
They said that was why they had to fight tooth and nail to ensure that Soludo was elected in 2021.
Speaking to a sea of former Obiano’s aides at the weekend, Soludo reminded them that it was a privilege for them to have served the state.
The governor said all they owed God and the people should be gratitude for standing out amongst millions of other equally qualified people who could not be appointed to serve.
He further reminded them that as a former appointee who served as the Chairman, Board of the Golden Tulip Hotels, Agulu, and the Chairman of the Anambra Vision 2070 committee, he provided his service “Free of Charge”, not a penny was charged by him for the tasks he performed.
He said his prayer is to always have the platform to touch the lives of the people as that is one of the greatest privilege any individual can enjoy in their life time.
Soludo further briefed the former appointees on the development strides he had achieved in 20 months.
Arising from the meeting, the former Appointees expressed delight and satisfaction with the pace of development in the State, pledging to continue their support for the Governor and the progress of Anambra State.
