Governor Kefas signs 2024 ₦313.3bn Appropriation Bill into law

The Taraba State Governor Dr Agbu Kefas has signed the Taraba State 2024 appropriation Bill into law exactly one week after presentation to the State House of Assembly for consideration.

The Governor signed the Bill, which is his first full year budget at the Exco chambers of the Taraba State government House in Jalingo on Friday afternoon.

Presenting the Budget for the Governor’s assent, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly Rt Honorable Kizito John Bonzana said that the House expedited actions to ensure that the state remain within the January to December budget circle.

Bonzana said that from the ₦311,388,525,661.96 presented to the House initially, the House approved the sum of ₦313,388,525,621.66 representing a ₦2bn increment to accommodate some very strategic projects that were not captured.

” This budget is aimed at alleviating the sufferings of the people. There is an increase of Two Billion Naira only to accommodate some projects which were not captured in the proposed bill.

“The people are rest assured that the dividends of democracy will be at their door steps. Let me commend the governor for his doggedness in moving the step forward and reassure him of our unwavering support to good governance and provisions of dividends of democracy to our people” he said.

In his remarks, the State Governor Dr Agbu Kefas said that the budget was more than a mere document but a reflection of the people’s aspiration and decision to set the state on the path of positive transformation.

“With gratitude and sense of responsibility, I received and signed into law this very important document that represents the collective efforts and aspirations of our people. It proves our collective dedication towards providing good governance. Our sheer commitment is a testament to our dedication to our people.

“The document reflects our resolve to build a viable state and a sustainable development trajectory for our people. We will work tirelessly to ensure that every Kobo is spent for the purpose for which it is allocated to create a lasting legacy for our people and the future of our state” Kefas said.

Our Correspondent reports that the State House of Assembly passed the ₦313.3bn appropriation Bill into law earlier on Friday Morning, one week after the governor presented the Budget to the House.
