…Honours Chimons Group boss

The 34th and 35th combined convocation ceremony of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) holds tomorrow amidst pomp and excitement with many distinguished Nigerians set to be conferred with different awards.

Leading the pack of awardees is Engr Chibuike Lawrence Achigbu, Chairman/CEO of Chimons Group, who is billed to be conferred with an honorary Doctorate Degree-Doctor of Technology(D.Tech) (HonorisCausa).

The FUTO Alumni association in a statement congratulated Engr. Achigbu noting that “With a wealth of knowledge and experience spanning nearly three decades, Achigbu has made significant impacts in various spheres of the industry.

Achigbu has to his credit a Masters Degree (MPA) in Political Economy from the University of Lagos and a Bachelors Degree in Petroleum/Petrochemical Engineering Technology from the FUTO.

He also holds a Post-Graduate Certificate in Business Strategy, Entrepreneurship, and Leadership Development from the prestigious Harvard Business School, Boston, Massachusetts”.

 

The statement signed by the trio of Ikukundu Iyke Anyanwu, Team Lead Publicist and Media, Alumni convocation activity programme, Prof Laz Uzoechi, National President FUTO alumni association, Rotarian Madu Stanley Okechukwu, Achigbu, a distinguished Petroleum Engineer and leader in the gas industry in Nigeria is a recipient of numerous recognition for his outstanding contributions.

The statement added that Achigbu’s professional journey is a testament to his leadership and innovation noting that as the Group Managing Director/CEO of Chimons Gas Limited, “he has displayed exemplary leadership by managing a workforce of over 200 employees and steering the successful lifting of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) from NLNG into the domestic market”.

“Achigbu is an integral part of the team of FUTO alumni who has remained consistent in the support for the infrastructural upliftment of FUTO.
His immense contributions to both the alumni association and the University have significantly contributed to the growth and development of the institution.

His unwavering dedication to the betterment of FUTO reflects the true spirit of an engaged and supportive alumnus”, the alumni association maintained.

 

Appreciating their Alma Mata, the association further added “As we express pride in Achigbu’s accomplishments, we also take this opportunity to appreciate our Alma Mata, FUTO, for finding it worthy to honour our colleague who has played pivotal role in the collective progress of the university.

FUTO’s commitment to recognizing and celebrating the achievements of its alumni is commendable and reinforces the strong bond between the university and its graduates”.

The association also applauded the Vice Chancellor and management of FUTO for their continuous efforts to foster a sense of community among its alumni and for acknowledging the outstanding contributions of individuals like Achigbu.
