Tizeti Network Limited has launched an advertising-supported internet access platform across its hotspot network in Nigeria and Ghana, allowing users to earn data by watching short video advertisements.
The company said the initiative converts advertising engagement into internet connectivity, offering users the option to access data without upfront payment while creating a new digital advertising channel for brands seeking reach across the region.
The platform, powered by Google Ad Manager’s Rewarded Web technology, enables users to voluntarily watch brief video adverts in exchange for data rewards. After viewing the advertisement, users receive a defined data allocation and can earn additional data through repeated opt-in sessions.
According to Tizeti, the system has been deployed across all its hotspot locations in both countries, covering residential areas, commercial districts, campuses and other high-density urban centres. With millions of users connected through its Wi-Fi infrastructure, the company said the platform represents one of the largest ad-supported connectivity networks in Africa.
At the hotspot level, users connect to Tizeti’s network as usual but are presented with the option to watch a short video advert before receiving internet access. Participation remains voluntary, with users required to provide explicit consent before engaging with the rewarded advertising system.
Tizeti said the platform operates in line with its privacy and data protection policies and complies with relevant regulations, including Nigeria’s Data Protection Act and Ghana’s Data Protection Act.
The company explained that the model creates a value exchange among users, advertisers and the network operator. While users gain flexible access to the internet without immediate payment, advertisers receive opt-in engagement from audiences, and the broadband provider expands connectivity through what it describes as a commercially sustainable model.
Industry analysts say the development comes amid rapid growth in Africa’s digital advertising market.
Programmatic advertising spend on the continent is projected to reach about $4 billion in 2025 and exceed $5 billion by 2028, with programmatic channels expected to account for the bulk of digital advertising revenue by the end of the decade.
By integrating Google Ad Manager into its hotspot infrastructure, Tizeti said brands can access advertising inventory through open and private auctions, preferred deals, programmatic guaranteed placements and direct reservations.
The company added that because users actively choose to watch the advertisements, brands may benefit from higher completion rates, stronger audience attention and improved return on advertising spend compared with traditional passive ad formats.
Speaking on the rollout, West Africa Manager at Tizeti Network Limited, Nsikak Asuquo, said internet access remains a critical driver of economic opportunity.
He noted that the reward-based connectivity model is expected to expand internet access while providing brands with a platform to reach more than 2.5 million active users across Nigeria and Ghana.
The Rewarded Internet Access platform is now live across Tizeti hotspot locations in the two countries, with advertisers able to activate campaigns through Google Ad Manager or directly through the company’s commercial partnerships team.
Tizeti provides broadband services across Nigeria and Ghana using a mix of fibre and public Wi-Fi infrastructure, targeting homes, businesses and public locations to support digital commerce, education and financial inclusion across the region.
