The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested 35 suspected armed robbers, kidnappers, cultists, one-chance robbers, fraudsters and murderers.
Its Commissioner of Police, Mr Sunday Babaji, said: “Officers and men of the command were able to tackle the criminals in their various hideouts in Abuja. We have mapped out strategies to curtail criminals and their activities especially during this ember months, which have yielded good results.
“The strategies enabled us to clampdown on the hoodlums. This led to the arrest of 15 suspected armed robbers who robbed victims in various places in Nyanyan and Abaji.
“Police operatives gave the robbers a hot chase and got them arrested at their various scenes of crime. Arms and ammunition were recovered from them.
“The Anti-Kidnapping Squad (AKS) arrested 12 suspected kidnappers who abducted victims in Abaji and Kwali. AKS stormed their hideouts and rescued seven victims, recovering pump action magazines, AK 47 rifles, and 20 rounds of ammunition.
“Operatives also arrested five suspected one-chance robbers who robbed victims along Nyanyan/Maraba axis, as they were going towards Apo routes. The victims raised an alarm, prompting police to swing into action. They got the robbers arrested.”
