The presidential and National Assembly elections in Yenagoa, Kolokuma/ Opokuma and Ekeremor Local Government Areas were largely peaceful due to the heavy deployment of security operatives, especially soldiers in Yenagoa and operatives of the Department of State Security (DSS).

In Kolokuma/ Opokuma the voters were very peaceful and aside two polling units in Odi where the card reader initially malfunctioned, voting went on smoothly in many parts of the council.

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Warman Ogoriba, in an interview expressed satisfaction with the process and said the APC would make a good showing at the election unlike in 2015.

Another APC chieftain, Prince Preye Aganaba noted that the peaceful conduct of the election in Odi even without armed Policemen can be attributed to the fact that the people understands the essence of elections to pick leaders of their choice.

He boasted that many Bayelsa people are appreciative of the work of President Buhari and as such would vote for him.

In Ekeremor reports said the election was peaceful because of the heavy deployment of security operatives especially from the DSS.
