•INEC confirms online pre-registration figure

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has disclosed that 4,445,505 Nigerians have pre-registered online after four weeks of the commencement of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.
INEC made the confirmation in a statement by the National Commissioner and Chairman, Information & Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun, in Abuja yesterday. He explained that the figure was as of Sunday, September 14, 2025.
While giving the breakdown of the figures, the electoral umpire revealed that 2,141,294 (48.17 per cent) are males, while 2,304,211 (51.83 per cent) are females.
It further explained that students were leading the preregistration chart, emphasising that in terms of age and occupation, majority of the 2,924,643 (65.79 per cent) are between the ages of 18 and 34, while 1,112,344 (25.02 per cent) are students.
On the update for the completed registration, the commission disclosed that as of Friday last week, the combined figures of the completed online pre-registration and the physical (in-person) registration is 509,929, out of which 229,758 (45.06 per cent) are males and 280,171 (54.94 per cent) are females.
The statement read: “The commission is pleased to announce the latest figures of the ongoing nationwide voter registration.
“On the online pre-registration, as of Sunday, September 14, 4,445,505 Nigerians have pre-registered online in four weeks since the commencement of the exercise on August 18.
“The figure at the end of week four shows that 2,141,294 (48.17 percent) are males and 2,304,211 (51.83 percent) are females. In terms of age and occupation, the majority 2,924,643 (65.79 percent) are between the ages of 18 and 34 ,while 1,112,344 (25.02 percent) are students.”
The commission, giving further update on the completed registration, noted that, “As of Friday last week, the combined figures of the completed online pre-registration and the physical (in-person) registration was 509,929, out of which 229,758 (45.06 percent) are males and 280,171 (54.94 per cent) are females.
“In terms of age and occupation, 378,132 (74.15 percent) are young people between the ages of 18 and 34, while 196,529 (38.54 percent) are students. The detailed distribution of both online and completed registrations by state, gender, age, occupation and disability have been uploaded to our website and other official platforms for public information,” the statement read.
It equally enumerated the ward level registration in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), noting, “As earlier announced, the online voter pre-registration in the FCT ends on Monday, September 15, 2025. For the next two weeks, the physical (in-person) option will be at the designated venues. Thereafter, the commission will devolve the registration to all the 62 wards in the FCT from September 29 to October 8.
