Community leaders in Ilesa, Osun State, have expressed their support for Governor Ademola Adeleke’s re-election bid, citing the completion of a N16.5 billion dual carriageway and 10 township roads as pivotal in transforming the ancient city.

They posited that these infrastructure projects have improved connectivity, stimulated economic activities, and contributed to the overall development of Ilesa.

During an on-the-spot assessment of the projects, community leaders—including princes, heads of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), the Ilesa West Council chairman, and representatives from various transport unions—came together to applaud Adeleke’s efforts.

Prince Adeyemi Adeniran praised the infrastructure improvements, stating, “The dual carriageway and other road projects have changed the face of the town. They have improved the economic benefits of the town and reduced accidents. In the past, it was difficult for the late Owa-Obokun to leave his palace, but that has changed.”

He reiterated the community’s commitment to supporting Adeleke’s re-election, saying, “We are ready to vote en masse for Governor Ademola Adeleke. We are confident that if he completes his eight years in office, he will do even more for us.”

Nze Akudina Obi, a leader from the Igbo community, noted the positive impact on local businesses, stating, “Business activities along this corridor have improved drastically, with people coming from far and wide due to improved transportation.”

He expressed confidence in Adeleke’s administration, affirming, “We pass a vote of confidence in the administration of Adeleke, and we will ensure he secures a second term in office in August 2026.”

Temitope Matthew, Vice Chairman of the NURTW at Abuja Park, echoed similar sentiments: “This road is beneficial to my members, and we fully support this government. We will vote for him massively in the 2026 gubernatorial poll.”

Earlier, Engr. Moruf Ojebode, Director of Highways for the Osun State Government, detailed that the administration has constructed a 6.2-kilometer dual carriageway alongside 10 other township roads to stimulate industrial growth and support emerging enterprises in Ilesa.

He emphasized the road projects as part of Adeleke’s infrastructure-driven agenda, aimed at positioning Ilesa as a key commercial and economic hub in the state. Ojebode added that the enhanced road network, totaling 20 kilometers, has eased movement, improved access to markets, and created a more conducive environment for investors and small-scale businesses.

He concluded, “The dual carriageway has brought Ilesa into the limelight, significantly uplifting the town. We have also completed 10 other roads, including Ademoroti, Ogbon Titun, Bonke, and others.”
