Women stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) across the eight local government areas of Sokoto East Senatorial District have commenced efforts to strengthen grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The mobilisation followed a strategic meeting convened by Hajiya Bilkisu Umar Ajiya, wife of the APC senatorial candidate for Sokoto East, Umar Ajiya, at the Umar Ajiya for Senate 2027 Secretariat along Kontagora Road, Sokoto.

The meeting brought together APC women stakeholders from Isa, Sabon Birni, Goronyo, Rabah, Wurno, Gada, Illela and Gwadabawa Local Government Areas, providing a platform for the women to discuss political participation, strengthen coordination and explore ways of advancing the party’s electoral objectives across the senatorial district.

Speaking at the meeting, Hajiya Bilkisu said the gathering was aimed at strengthening the bond among APC women in the district and creating an avenue for them to exchange ideas on how to achieve their common political goals.

“This gathering forms part of efforts to deepen women’s participation and coordination within the party as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.”

She commended the women for their resilience and determination during political activities, urging them to sustain the same courage and commitment beyond election periods.

She also expressed appreciation to the stakeholders for responding to the invitation, saying their participation demonstrated their willingness to remain actively involved in political processes and contribute to the success of APC candidates at all levels in the 2027 elections.

She stressed the importance of unity and sustained engagement among the women, particularly at the grassroots.

“Our strength lies in our unity and sustained engagement. We must remain connected with our people at the grassroots, because that is where effective political mobilisation and voter engagement begin.”

Women dignitaries present included the wives of the Sokoto State Deputy Governor, the Minister of State for Works and the State APC Chairman, as well as the wife of the lawmaker representing Rabah/Wurno Federal Constituency and the APC North-West Zonal Women Leader, among other dignitaries.
