The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has described claims by former governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola that the Presidency has been pressuring governor Ademola Adeleke to defect to the APC as “unfounded.”
Oyinlola, during an interview on Arise News Channel’s Prime Time Show, stated that Adeleke had confided in him about facing significant pressure from the Presidency, even revealing that it had brought him to tears.
But, Kola Olabisi, the APC’s Director of Media and Information, argued that Oyinlola’s narrative contradicts the actual developments within the party. He emphasized that all of Adeleke’s attempts to join the APC had been unsuccessful.

In a statement, yesterday, Olabisi accused Adeleke of fabricating sentiments to gain sympathy from Oyinlola, saying “It was in the public domain how Adeleke was moving from pillar to post to join our party without success.
“We find it hard to believe that he was genuinely pressured, as he seems to be inflating his importance by suggesting that he was being pursued by unknown forces,” Olabisi said.
The APC challenged Adeleke to reveal the identities of those allegedly pressuring him and dismissed the idea as a theatrical fabrication. “The allegation that some people have been coercing governors to defect lacks merit and logic. It is an unfounded claim meant to divert attention from the internal challenges facing the PDP,” APC said.
Olabisi further asserted that blaming the APC for the PDP’s struggles in Osun and across the nation is unreasonable, saying that the party views Adeleke’s claims as lacking credibility and deserving of dismissal.
