Vows blue economy revolution

The governorship candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) in Delta State, Engr. Isaac Eshor, has declared war on unemployment, vowing to turn the state into a blue economy hub if elected in 2027.
Eshor, who spoke in Abuja, on Saturday, after his endorsement by the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), also promised free education, improved healthcare, better electricity supply and massive youth empowerment.
“I will turn Delta State into a blue economy,” he declared, saying the state must end its overdependence on government revenue and harness its natural resources to create jobs and drive economic growth.
He accused the state government of failing to translate its huge revenues into meaningful development, challenging the administration to a public debate.
“Let me see the candidates. I want to see a debate with the current government. Let’s talk about the growth of the economy,” he said.
On electricity, Eshor promised to build turbine systems capable of generating power for communities across the state.
“I am going to build a turbine system that will generate electricity for the people of Delta State,” he said.
He also promised free primary and secondary education, as well as a N100,000 monthly allowance for teachers.
“Every teacher in Delta State, from primary to secondary school, we are going to be paying them N100,000 as monthly allowance,” he said.
The AAC candidate pledged to strengthen healthcare and ensure that key reforms were backed by law to prevent future administrations from reversing them.
He said youth empowerment would be central to his administration, warning that unemployment and idleness could fuel crime.

“When the mind is idle, crime does not stop,” he said.
Speaking at the event, NYCN President, Comrade Isa Babangida, called for experienced, competent and accountable leadership capable of turning Nigeria’s economic potential into jobs, investments and opportunities for youths.
Babangida said young Nigerians needed leaders who could deliver tangible results rather than empty promises.
He said the council was backing leadership with proven experience and capacity to drive economic development, particularly in Delta State.
“We need a government that understands how the system works; how businesses are built, how investments are attracted, how enterprises are managed, how people are employed and how the economy can be created,” he said.
Babangida said Delta should be treated not merely as a political entity but as an economic project capable of attracting investments and creating jobs.
He also advocated skills acquisition and entrepreneurship, saying youth empowerment must go beyond temporary political patronage.
“Giving a young person a skill is more powerful than giving that young person a temporary political opportunity. We need leadership that creates pathways to sustainable livelihoods,” he said.
He highlighted Eshor’s experience in marine operations, logistics, business and entrepreneurship, as well as his involvement in skills acquisition, job creation and youth empowerment.
Babangida urged state governments to complement Federal Government efforts by creating more opportunities for youths to acquire skills, build businesses, attract investments and generate employment.
