Chelsea is keeping an eye on Eredivisie’s second-top scorer Santiago Giménez as an alternative to Victor Osimhen.
According to Footballtransfers, the Stamford Bridge outfit has dentified the Mexico international as the go-to forward in case they fail to land Osimhen.
Giménez has been in blistering goalscoring form since joining Feyenoord last season and played a vital role in helping them scoop the league title, scoring 15 goals.
The 22-year-old has continued from where he left off last term, registering 13 goals after twelve rounds of games in the Eredivisie this season.
Chelsea is aware that Osimhen won’t come cheap despite his contract running into its final year and is seeking other options to the Nigerian forward as it seeks to sign a prolific striker.
Besides the transfer fee, the club could also face stiff competition from other European heavyweights who might also be seeking to sign the Nigerian forward.
While it has been suggested that the 24-year-old would prefer to join the six-time English champions, there is no guarantee that they will beat other competitors to his signature.
Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis has not hidden the fact that they could consider selling the Nigeria international next summer if he fails to sign a new contract and that could lead to several clubs battling to acquire his services.
