• JAMB Registrar, Oloyede, receives Ahmed Raji’s 250-seat CBT Centre, says private sector support key

Registrar, Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, yesterday said private sector support is key to the reforms of examinations in Nigeria.
He spoke at the formal handover of the Grade A 250-seat Computer-Based Test (CBT) centre in Iseyin, Oyo State, which was built and donated to JAMB by a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Ahmed Raji, through the Raji Oke-Esa Foundation.
He described the facility as a major boost to Nigeria’s national drive toward digitalised, inclusive and credible examination processes. He added that the intervention aligned squarely with ongoing reforms in the country’s education sector.
He said JAMB’s transition from paper-based examinations to computer-based testing was designed to enhance transparency, efficiency and global competitiveness, but acknowledged that infrastructure gaps in some parts of the country had posed challenges.
“Every standard CBT centre added to our national grid strengthens the integrity, accessibility and credibility of public examinations in Nigeria.
“This intervention is not just for Iseyin; it contributes to a nationwide system that serves millions of candidates annually,” Oloyede stated.

According to him, the 250-capacity centre expands JAMB’s operational base, reduces congestion in existing facilities and brings examination access closer to candidates, thereby advancing the Federal Government’s broader agenda of equitable educational opportunity.
Oloyede described Raji as one of Nigeria’s foremost legal luminaries, whose investment in education reflects a patriotic commitment to national development.
In a symbolic endorsement of the gesture, the JAMB registrar presented a letter of commendation from the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, who urged other Nigerians in the private sector to support government efforts in strengthening educational infrastructure across the country.
Beyond the CBT centre, Raji also delivered renovated classrooms and administrative offices at Raji Oke-Esa Memorial Comprehensive High School, which stakeholders described as a holistic investment in learning infrastructure.
Governor Seyi Makinde represented by Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mr. Segun Olayiwola, said the project complements both state and federal education reforms aimed at improving quality and expanding access.
He noted that strengthening digital infrastructure at the grassroots ultimately supports national competitiveness in a technology-driven global economy.
Senator Abdulfatai Buhari, representing Oyo North commended Raji’s integrity and sustained contributions to community advancement, describing the project as an example of how private citizens can partner with institutions to drive national progress.
