A Bayelsa based non-governmental organization, WARD-2-WARD 4 DIRI/LAW 2023 has raised N28.4 million for the procurement of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) expression of interest form for Governor Douye Diri’s re-election.

 

The group has also threatened to compel Senator Diri to seek re-election during the November governorship race in the state.

According to the time-table released by the Independent National Electoral Commission,( INEC),political parties are expected to conduct primaries to pick governorship candidates between March and April 2023 for the election coming up in November.

The Director General of the group,  Mr  Ogidi Ben Bara aka  OBB, said the decision of the group to compel Senator Diri to contest for a second term is to ensure that the numerous achievements recorded in the last three years are sustained across the state.

He said young Bayelsans will no longer accept the emergence of visionless and questionable leaders to man the leadership of the state.

“We consider the fact that Diri has transformed the state from an undeveloped status into a more purposeful and developing state. Hence, Bayelsa youths have confidence in the Senator Diri led prosperity administration, whom we can vouch for and believed, has purposefully and judiciously managed the available resources in the last three years in office,” he said.

 

Hon Ben Bara also explained that WARD-2-WARD 4 DIRI/LAW was established to drum overwhelming support for Senator Diri and to compel him to reapply for the position he is currently occupying.

 

Ogidi Ben stated what necessitated the group’s decision include but not limited to Diri’s scorecards in the last three years, especially, in areas of infrastructural development  , aviation, road, water, power and energy, waste management, health and education.

 

He also announced that the members of the WARD-2-WARD 4 DIRI/ LAW have raised a total sum of N28.4million to purchase the Expression of Interest and nomination form for Senator Diri if he declares to run for second term in office,

“We have also resolved to seek legal actions if he ignores and delays their call.”

“All we want is for Governor Douye Diri to complete the ongoing roads projects, continue the consistent and unrelated payment of civil servants salaries, ongoing youths and women empowerment programmes, transport scheme for civil servants, massive records in sports history, and above all, peaceful state in terms of security challenges compared to other neighbouring states” he stated.
