President Bola Tinubu met with His Holiness, Pope Leo XIV, on Sunday after the latter’s inaugural mass as the leader of the Roman Catholic Church.

Tinubu shook hands with the newly installed Bishop of Rome along with other world leaders in St Peter’s Square after the service.

Both men spoke briefly before they went their separate ways after Pope Leo’s message calling on members of the congregation to reject hatred and division.

Others who shook hands with Pope Leo are US Vice President JD Vance and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, among others.

In his inaugural message, Pope Leo also urged against the exploitation of nature and the marginalisation of the poor.
