President Donald Trump has appealed to Americans to remain calm amid the plummeting value of US stocks after markets opened on Wall Street.
Data from the S&P 500 index, which tracks the country’s leading listed companies, showed a 200-point drop or 4% on Monday.
Also, New York shares were not left out of the dip, with all three major US indices falling more than three percent in early trading.
Taking to his Truth Social platform, Trump urged US citizens to refrain from panic, telling them not to be weak and stupid while adding that greatness would be the result.
“The United States has a chance to do something that should have been done DECADES AGO. Don’t be Weak!
“Don’t be Stupid! Don’t be a PANICAN (A new party based on Weak and Stupid people!). Be Strong, Courageous, and Patient, and GREATNESS will be the result!” the post reads.
