It was a night of fun with lots of music, games, dance, fund raising, and other fantastic activities at the fourth annual White Christmas Party by the Young Christian Workers (YCW) Movement of the Holy Family Catholic Church, Festac, Lagos.
Speaking at the event, Chima Amandibuogu, President of the YCW, stated that the festive season is not only aimed at having fun, but also a season to put smiles on the faces of the less privileged.
Amandibuogu enumerated some of the achievements of the group, stating how the group went to the hospital and cleared the medical bills of about eight people. “We also go to schools. So the proceeds we get here are what we use to do all these charity works.”
He advised that people should contribute to the development of the society by donating to charity, adding that the most important thing is that charity begins at home. “Let’s try our best to reach out, help each other and contribute to ending poverty in Nigeria, he added.”

Efe Egieya Chairperson of the organising committee for the White Christmas Party Season 4, reiterated the essence of the event which is for everybody to come and have fun at the end of the year and also raise funds for Charity.

Furthermore, Parish Priest of Holy Family Catholic Church, Festac, Lagos, Rev Fr Melvis Mayaki, said, “The main aim, as far as I know, is to celebrate God’s goodness to us every Christmas. It’s not just a celebration for the sake of celebration, but a celebration because of Jesus Christ.”

Rev Fr Hilary Ogunyemi, Chaplain of YCW, expressed joy at the purpose of the event saying, “This kind of program is what brings all of them together to have fun and enjoy each other’s company”.

Guests from different walks of life attended the occasion. As the name of the event implies, all guests were dressed in white, which lightened the venue, surroundings, and added glam to the party.
