10 killed in auto crash

A fatal motor accident on Sunday night in Abata-Egba Village, along Ondo Road, Ile-Ife, Osun State, has claimed the lives of 10 pople.

The accident involved a truck, MUS 847 XC and a Toyota commercial bus, JJJ 15 XJ.

A witness who doesn’t want his name in print, said the vehicles had a head-on collision.

The Commissioner of Police, Mr Fimihan Adeoye, disclosed that 10 persons were confirmed dead by medical doctors, adding that their remains had been deposited at the morgue of Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, Ile-Ife.

Adeoye, who spoke through the Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs Folasade Odoro, said other victims were receiving treatment at the hospital.

He warned motorists to always avoid reckless driving and watch carefully before overtaking to avoid repeat of such avoidable accident.

He also disclosed that the obstruction caused by the accident had been cleared by traffic policemen.
