On October 31, 2024, the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Yu Dunhai, presented his Letters of Credence to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the State House, Abuja.
During the ceremony, Yu conveyed the cordial greetings and best wishes of President Xi Jinping to President Tinubu, and said that the recent years have witnessed enhanced political, mutual trust and deepened cooperation in various fields between China and Nigeria.
President Tinubu, in September, visited China and attended the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) during which the two presidents upgraded the bilateral relations between both countries to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and drew up a new blueprint for China-Nigeria cooperation.
Yu told President Tinubu that China is ready to work with Nigeria to implement the consensus reached by the two heads of state and the FOCAC conference outcomes, and bring more benefits to the two countries and peoples.
In his remarks, President Tinubu, while welcoming Ambassador Yu, asked the Chinese envoy to convey his sincere greetings to President Xi.
Tinubu recalled that recently, he reached wide range consensus with President Xi, making the trip to China a great success.
He said Nigeria attaches great importance to China-Nigeria relations, and is willing to further deepen the friendship, strengthen mutually-beneficial cooperation, and elevate the relations between both countries to a higher level.
