In commemoration of World Teachers Day, the Young Progressives Party (YPP) candidate Ifako-Ijaiye Federal Constituency, Buraimoh Peter Folajimi, has commended Nigerian teachers and described them as unsung heroes of Nigeria’s democracy.

The hopeful lawmaker made the commendation Wednesday, he noted that ”Nigeria would not have been where it is today without the valuable contributions of teachers.”

Buraimoh said that teachers are the unsung heroes of our democracy, they have built great minds that have projected the greatness of our dear nation, Nigeria. Regardless of the current state of the country, Nigeria has the greatest league of teachers.

“Happy teachers’ day to all the teachers that have contributed to the growth of the nation through their impactful teaching.

Meanwhile, World Teachers’ Day is held annually on 5th October, to celebrate all teachers around the globe.

It commemorates the anniversary of the adoption of the 1966 ILO/UNESCO Recommendation Concerning the Status of Teachers, which sets benchmarks regarding the rights and responsibilities of teachers, and standards for their initial preparation and further education, recruitment, employment, teaching, and learning conditions.
