Popular artiste, Habeeb Okikiola Badmus aka Portable, has been honoured with the West Africa Icon Award (WAIA).
On behalf of Elation Communications Limited, Royal International and Elation magazines, organisers of the awards, the Director of WAIA, High Chief Darlinghtyn Momoh Umoru presented the Zaazu crooner with a certificate, gold medal and plaque at his Ilogbo office in Ogun State,
According to Umoru, Portable earned the honour as a result of his commendable contributions and recognizable achievements in Afropop music. He described the musician as one of special breeds adjudged worthy to be conferred with the prestigious honour.
Umoru, who also doubles as a security consultant, did not disclose the names of other recipients of the award, but vowed to unveil them at Airport Hotel, Lagos on July 29, 2023.
In his response, Portable thanked the award organizers for the honour, describing it as one of the best he had received in recent times. He also expressed his gratitude to the organizations for accepting to make his own presentation possible before the main event scheduled for July 29.
“I will be traveling to the United Kingdom that period for a musical tour,” the singer disclosed.
