The Director, Linkages and Partnership of Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, Prof. Joseph Ashidi, says the various linkages with foreign universities were meant to strength it’s academic and research visibilities.

Prof. Ashidi told Daily Sun that under the current Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ayodeji Ajboola, OOU has attracted linkages and partnership with some foreign universities, which would be beneficiary to lecturers and students.

He specifically revealed that OOU has an arrangement with University of Sussex for a joint degree, tagged 3 + 1, and that students would spent three years in OOU and one year at the foreign university, adding, “the students would earn OOU and Sussex degrees.

He added:  “As regards linkage and partnership with external institutions, we have good stories to tell.  Since the assumption of office of the current VC, we are doing well in this area.  I am not surprise, the VC was former director of linkages and partnership and I took over from him.

“When he was the director, we had linkages with UK universities, particularly Nottingham University and University of West, Scotland.  In OOU, we have two professors, who teach in the clinical department.  We have a visiting professor in pharmaceutical.”

Ashidi revealed that OOU signed a memorandum of understand (MoU) with University of Sussex on joint international journal on Global South Studies on entrepreneur.

The director further confirmed that four editorial board members of the international journal are from OOU.

He continued, “We have an arrangement for a joint degree, tagged 3+1.  Our students will spend three years here (OOU) and one year at Sussex. The students will get OOU and Sussex degrees.”

Ashidi added that plans are under way to extend the joint degree to other faculties for more students to benefit from the joint partnership.
