Rosemary Olubode, host of Rosemary Olubode Inspirational, an Instagram and YouTube page created to discuss marriage and shortcomings of spouses in fulfilling their obligation towards each other, has disclosed why marriages are failing today.
There has been a spike in divorce, separation and cheating among couples; worrying developments the Rosemary Olubode Inspirational initiator is convinced are due to men and women failing to perform spousal duties, that are meant to spice up marriages. Rosemary Olubode holds the view that responsibilities such as cooking, which women consider negligible or herculean task, as well as care for men at home, is a major factor why some men cheat on their wives.
Rosemary Olubode was born in Jibowu, Lagos State, in 1975, and had her primary and secondary education in the state. She exhibited extraordinary brilliance as a student. She bagged a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy, from the prestigious University of Benin, Edo State. She had her one-year Internship programme at Federal Psychiatric Hospital in Benin, and was posted to Akwa Ibom for the compulsory national youth service.
The pharmacist was married for 18 years before the cold hands of death snatched her husband in 2020, in a fire incident. But every moment she shared with him has become a treasure, something she looks back on and her heart begin to race, wishing that he were here. According to the Rosemary Olubode Inspirational initiator, the memories of her blissful union, which produced three children, inspired her project.
Rosemary Olubode argued that she beams the core discussions on her show on women because of unsavoury attitude of some of them towards their husbands, which according to her, is putting many homes under threat.
“It is because some homes are not homes. Some marries are not marriage. Some women have very terrible character. Even you as a woman cannot tolerate some of these women as friends, not to talk of a man. So what I’m trying to do is to erase that mentality that they have; that horrible mentality that they have in their marriage, that they can treat their husband anyhow, maltreat their children or people around them. I’m just trying to change their orientation, so that they can be happy in their home; that is the whole essence. I just want women to be happy in their home, I want marriages ordained by God, to last. It can last, so it depends on how you handle it”, she expressed.
Speaking further, Rosemary Olubode said, “I see men, they complain, they come to my DM, and say, ‘Rosemary, can you talk to my wife, don’t mention I said it to you’. I think we women need to do better in that area, we need to take care of our husband, it is very important, especially if your husband is good. Why wouldn’t you want to take care of him?”
Speaking further,,Rosemary Olubode is convinced that her late husband would be proud of the immense impact she is making in the lives of other people. Rosemary Olubode averred that her late spouse was a man who would sacrifice anything to meet the needs of others.
“The only way i can describe my husband is to say that I married the kindest man on earth. My husband was kind-hearted, he was kind to a fault, my husband would deprive himself of the good things of life, in order to make people happy, to make his family happy. My husband could sacrifice anything, just to make people happy, just to make people smile.
“My husband would want to solve people’s problems, he would pay house rent, paid school fees. Once my husband knew people’s problem, he would go to any length to solve that problem; that was the sort of man I married. He was just too kind, he was God-fearing. We all miss him, his colleagues misses him, it is three years now and everybody still misses Niyi Olubode,” Rosemary Olubode recalled.
