In a bid to restore confidence, foster inclusion and promote healthy haircare practices among women of African descent, Natures Gentle Touch has held a natural hair workshop in Lagos, Nigeria, urging women to embrace the beauty of their natural hair.
The event drew hair professionals, aspiring stylists, beauty entrepreneurs and natural hair enthusiasts for training focused on the care, management and styling of natural hair.
Expert-led sessions covered hair and scalp care, product selection, healthy hair practices, styling techniques and approaches to managing different natural hair textures. Organisers said participants left with practical knowledge applicable both at home and in professional salon settings.
Speaking on the workshop, the Institute’s Chief Executive Officer, Chijioke Anaele, said it was designed to close gaps in natural hair knowledge and equip people with skills that create lasting value.
“At Natures Gentle Touch Hair Institute, we believe that healthy hair begins with knowledge,” Anaele said. “Our goal is not simply to teach people how to style hair, but to help them understand hair, care for it properly and make informed decisions about the products and techniques they use.”
He added that education remains central to the growth and professionalisation of Nigeria’s beauty industry, and that workshops of this kind can open new opportunities for young people and beauty professionals.
The session also gave participants a chance to engage directly with industry experts, ask questions and share experiences — part of what the Institute describes as its broader role as a platform for learning and innovation in the natural hair sector.
Natures Gentle Touch Hair Institute said it will continue offering education and training programmes aimed at promoting healthier hair practices and supporting the development of Nigeria’s beauty industry.
