Wife of Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Dr Becky Paul-Enenche, has revealed how she and her husband, Dr. Paul Enenche, stayed off sex during courtship by putting deliberate and practical boundaries in place.
The doctor-turned-cleric recounted that before marriage, both of them made a firm decision not to “defile the marital bed,” agreeing that if it happened, the relationship would end.
“It may sound ridiculous today, but we knew why we did it,” she said in a Facebook post on Wednesday.
On measures taken, she said, “Every Thursday, we fasted and prayed together. If he came over, guess what we would do? The front door of the flat would be open.
“I didn’t say unlocked. I mean open… The door was left ajar. The windows were open, the curtains were drawn, and we prayed in the parlor.”
She noted that even though she had a two-bedroom flat to herself, they “deliberately refused to step into the bedroom together to pray.”
She added, “Imagine having a two-bedroom flat all to yourself, yet you deliberately refused to step into the bedroom together to pray.”
The pastor stressed that purity requires more than good intentions.
“You don’t merely pray for purity. You plan for purity. You set borders. You establish boundaries. You organize yourself intentionally,” she said.
“Because when you know that somebody can walk in at any time, you are not going to try anything. Holiness is not sustained by good intentions alone. It is strengthened by wise, practical decisions.”
