Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu, has said Nigeria has much to gain from Saudi Arabia in area of investment and others.
She said the renewed interest of the Saudi Arabia government and its investors to invest in Nigeria and provide job opportunities for Nigerians, was a welcome development and a huge achievement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope drive.
According to a statement by the Special Adviser to the minister on Media and Publicity, Rasheed Olanrewaju Zubair, Edu said this while speaking on the sidelines of the Saudi-Africa Investment Summit in Riyadh.
Edu, who was part of the president’s delegation to Saudi Arabia, said Nigeria is poised to end multi-dimensional poverty by the year 2030, affirming that the opportunity provided by the Saudi-Africa Summit was in line with the poverty alleviation and job creation agenda of President Tinubu.
She said President Tinubu’s determination to reduce humanitarian crises and poverty challenges in Nigeria has began to receive global acceptability, with the latest being the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
She said the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre would also be partnering Nigeria in these areas.
During the summit, President Tinubu had bilateral meetings with the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman, and other key investors.
The minister said the president attracted a lot of investment to Nigeria, including investment to revamp local refineries and also assured potential investors that their investments are safe in Nigeria.
“The president boasted that Nigeria is ready for business, assured investors of some of the world’s highest returns on their investments, noting that the two countries have always enjoyed a special relationship for over 60 years,” she said.
