Tragedy struck the Yalwan Rugu-Rugu community in Tudun Wada Local Government Area of Kano State on Saturday afternoon when a canoe carrying three sisters capsized at Tiga Dam.
The victims were identified as Murjanatu, Atikatu and Bilkisu, who was popularly known as Amira.
The tragic incident, Daily Sun gathered, occurred around 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
The Chairperson of Tudun Wada Local Government Area, Sa’adatu Salisu Soja, confirmed the tragedy in a condolence message posted on her verified social media pages.

She mourned with the affected families and the entire Yalwan Rugu-Rugu community in the local government area.
“May Allah accept them as martyrs, forgive their shortcomings and grant them Aljannah. May He also give their parents, relatives and friends the strength to bear this painful loss,” she said.
She also prayed against the recurrence of such a tragic incident in her local government area and the state in general.
At the time of reporting, there had been no official comment on the cause of the accident.
