We’ll resist one-party state within law – ADC

ADC spokesman Bolaji Abdullahi

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has declared its readiness to resist any attempt to turn Nigeria into a one-party state, insisting it will do so strictly within the bounds of the law.

Speaking on Politics Today, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, said the ADC is determined to protect Nigeria’s multiparty democracy ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Abdullahi alleged that recent political developments are being driven by concerns within the ruling party over declining public support, claiming that internal polls are unfavourable to President Bola Tinubu.

According to him, Nigerians are increasingly dissatisfied with the current administration, a factor he said is shaping political realignments ahead of the 2027 election.

“We are saying, in the ADC, Nigeria will not become a one-party state in our generation. We will do everything within the law to resist it,” he said.

He further stressed that the party is fully committed to participating in the 2027 elections, noting that preparations are already underway.

“One thing I can guarantee is that we will contest the 2027 election on the ADC platform. While we are hoping for the best, we are also preparing for the worst,” Abdullahi added.
