The Cross River State Deputy Governor, Dr Peter Odey, says the present administration headed by Senator Bassey Otu will ensure refugees receive the best treatment in the state.
Dr Odey disclosed this in an interview in Calabar during activities to mark this year’s World Refugee Day.
Speaking on efforts to reintegrate refugees, Dr Odey said, “Already, they feel at home in Cross River State, and we will make sure that they are comfortable here until they want to return to their place.

“We have been working in collaboration with the Director General of the State Emergency Management Agency, visiting their camps to ensure that their welfare is well taken care of.
“Those of them who want to learn a trade have been encouraged by the state government, and it has been very participatory.
“So we shall keep doing that and ensure they have the best treatment in the state,” Dr Odey said.
He added that efforts to ensure peace have been ongoing and that it’s not just the job of Nigeria or ECOWAS but also that of the United Nations and the international community.
World Refugee Day is commemorated on 20 June and is dedicated to refugees around the globe.
This year’s theme is “Solidarity With Refugees”.
Cross River State currently hosts thousands of refugees fleeing the conflict in neighbouring Cameroon.
