From Gyang Bere, Jos

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) Plateau State University, PLASU chapter, has distanced itself from the notice of commencement of lecture on October 10, 2022, as announced by the Management of the Institution.

They said there is no time the Senate sat and deliberated on the subject matter leading to the announcement of the commencement of lectures in the coming days.

The ASUU Chairperson, Dr Monday Zitta, through the Union’s Secretary, Deme Samson Bitrus, stated this yesterday while briefing journalists on the position of the Union in Jos the Plateau State capital.

“The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) Plateau State University wishes to inform the general public that there was no Senate Meeting that deliberated and approved October 10, 2022, as the resumption date and in preparation for the commencement of lectures.

“A Senate Meeting was however held with the approval of the National Executive Council of ASUU on the 26th September 2022 to agree on a matter that is different from what the Management decided to broadcast,” Zitta stated.

He said academic activities at the Institution can only work when the National strike is suspended of call-off. “We wish to let the public know that academic activities at the State University will only commence when the national strike is suspended or called off.”
