Kaduna State Police Command has arrested has arrested over 503 suspects for various offences in the past two months. Commissioner of Police, Mr Musa Yusuf Garba, said: “The arrests were made between May and June 2023.
“The command recorded success to ensure lasting peace and security of life and property. A lot of security measures are being initiated and strategized systematically.
“The suspects were arrested for various crimes including banditry, armed robbery, kidnapping, rape, vandalism and cattle rustling.
“Police Divisional headquarters, Saminaka, arrested a suspect who conspired with one Maikunu, now at large. They kidnapped his brother, took him to an unknown destination and demanded N5million ransom.
“After collecting N120,000 from the family, they went ahead and killed the victim. Another suspect abducted his daughter. He kept her in his room for more than 21days and had canal knowledge of the victim. The suspect is in our custody.
“The command recovered about 600 pieces of railway slippers removed by vandals in an articulated vehicle DAF at Sanzwan, Zonkwa Zango Kataf Local Government. During Salah, we deployed 12,000 police officers in strategic areas. The DPOs and area command tactical commanders ensured 24-hour patrol surveillance.
“The command recovered four AK47 rifles three revolver pistols, 2,800 railway slippers and nine motor vehicles of different brands, 2009 rounds of AK47 live ammunition, 129 rustled cattle, eight sheep and two bags of dry leaves. The suspects will soon be charged to court.”
