Police authorities in Ghana have arrested three Nigerians in connection with a series of armed robberies targeting bank customers within the Kumasi metropolis and surrounding communities.
The suspects, identified as Aboy Promise, 30; Favour Uwalaka, 45; and Kingsley, alias KC, 35, were arrested in separate operations following intelligence gathered by the police.
The Ashanti Regional Police Command confirmed the development in a Tuesday statement signed by the Head of the Public Affairs Unit, Superintendent Godwin Ahianyo.
According to the command, the operational breakthrough followed a targeted intelligence-led crackdown executed by a specialised police unit.
“On 31st October 2026, at about 11:30pm, an IGP’s Special Team, comprising personnel from the Anti-Armed Robbery Unit of the CID Headquarters and the Accra Regional Police Intelligence Directorate (PID), acting on intelligence, embarked on an operation to apprehend these suspects,” Ahianyo stated.
He said the initial raid on a hotel at Moshie Zongo led to the arrest of 30-year-old Aboy Promise and 45-year-old Favour Uwalaka.
A search of their hotel rooms yielded GH₵1,600.00 in cash, several mobile phones, a Royal motorbike, and a master key utilised to break into vehicles.
The police said that during interrogation, the duo confessed to the crimes and identified two accomplices: Kingsley, alias KC, and Chinedu, alias Alhaji.

The information enabled operatives to track down 35-year-old Kingsley to another hotel in Dechemso, a Kumasi suburb, where he was taken into custody.
However, the fourth suspect, Chinedu, remains at large.
Detailing the modus operandi of the syndicate, the police noted, “Preliminary investigations indicate that the syndicate monitored banking premises, identified customers who withdrew substantial sums of money and trailed them before attacking and robbing them. They also broke into unattended vehicles belonging to bank customers using a master key to steal cash kept inside.”
The command stated that the suspects confessed to multiple operations across the region.
Among these was the robbery of a customer of GH₵15,000.00 at Asokore Mampong on October 27, shortly after the victim withdrew funds from Kwamang Rural Bank.
The gang also allegedly admitted responsibility for similar strikes outside the Atonsu branch of Fidelity Bank and the Ahodwo branch of Access Bank.
All three suspects have been transferred to the Ashanti Regional Police Command to assist with ongoing investigations, while security personnel continue the manhunt for the fleeing accomplice.
“The command is appealing to the general public to volunteer any credible information that could lead to his arrest,” the statement added, while urging bank customers to maintain heightened vigilance and avoid leaving large sums of cash unattended in their parked vehicles.
