Ondo State Police command has arrested five persons in connection with the attack on a Vice Principal in the state during the ongoing West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASCE).

The Vice Principal of Complete Child Development Centre, Akure was allegedly attacked by some thugs on the order of a parent for disallowing the the candidates sitting for the WASCE examinations to receive external assistance.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO). for the state police command, Mr Ayanlade Olushola confirmed the arrest of the five persons in a statement issued on Monday.

He said the police arrested one Mrs. Dorcas Asije and four other accomplices.

“Acting on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, Mr Wilfred Olutokunbo Afolabi, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) led a tactical team to ensure their swift arrest.

He disclosed that the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigations Department (SCID), adding that the suspects will soon be charged to court upon conclusion of investigation.

The PPRO advised the public to remain law-abiding and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
