UNICEF lauds Kebbi on release of over N700m for malnutrition, want Nigeria’s to be global example

The country representative of  United Nations Children’s Education Fund ( UNICEF) Ms Wafaa Elfadil Saeed  Abdelatef has commended Kebbi State Government for mobilised over N700 million to cater for food for malnourished children asking the state, Nigeria to be global example for other countries.
Abdelatef stated this during her courtesy visit to the Governor, Dr Nasir Idris and official handover of cold boxes and vaccine carriers to the Kebbi State Government and symbolic flag off of the social health insurance scheme,in Birnin Kebbi.
The high-level meeting focused on key development priorities including social health insurance, the Child Nutrition Fund (CNF), and the pressing issue of out-of-school children.
During the visit, the Governor , represented by Deputy Governor, Senator Umar Abubakar and the UNICEF Representative officially launched two critical documents: Guidelines for Alternative Care for Children, and  SOP for Coordinated Response to Sudden Onset Emergencies in Kebbi State.
While addressing representative of the Governor, Abdelatef who commended the vision and leadership of Kebbi State Government, said the UNICEF were really excited with the commitment of the government on education,health and provision of fund for the treatment of malnourished children.
 “I want to commend the state for the commitment on education and released of N700 million to ensure supply of food and other necessary things for the children suffering from malnutrition and preventions.  This is something that is commendable.
 “I want your state to continue to be good example leadership in this aspect.  We are proud of your government on education, health. We are looking forward for Nigeria, Kebbi State, to serve as global example for other countries in Africa and other continents.”
 Abdelatef who declared the readiness of the UNICEF to collaborate with the state on education, health,noted that the visit was aim to strengthen child protection systems and enhance emergency preparedness and response across the state.
Earlier,the Kebbi State Governor, Dr Nasir Idris, represented by the Deputy Governor, Senator Umar Abubakar commended the UNICEF for always being a good partner to the state government,stressed that the current administration would always be available to collaborate with them for the betterment of the people of the state.
