Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) said, on Wednesday, that it’s putting final touches to plans to host the 6th edition of the African Edutech Conference in collaboration with the Nigerian-British Chamber of Commerce (NBCC), and Edufirst Nigeria.

The conference which is scheduled to take place later this year, is expected to attract stakeholders from across the African Continent to discuss and explore the future of education technology, promising to be a pivotal moment in the re-engineering of Africa’s educational landscape.

Prof. Bashir Galadanci, National Coordinator, UBEC Digital Resource Centre (DRC), at a press conference, in Abuja, on Wednesday, highlighted the Commission’s role in transforming education across Africa leveraging technology to enhance educational outcomes nationwide.

He stated: “Our collaboration with NBCC and Edufirst Nigeria for the 6th African Edutech Conference is an indication of our commitment to pioneering educational reforms through technology.

“The DRC will serve as a hub for digital learning resources, providing access to high-quality educational materials and training for educators, thus bridging the gap between traditional teaching methods and modern digital tools.”

Chinyere Emeruwa, Assistant General Manager, Edufirst Nigeria, in her presentation, said the conference will focus on ensuring that technology plays a transformative role in the educational sector.

He highlighted the successes of the past five editions, noting significant advancements and positive impacts achieved through the conferences. “We have seen tremendous progress over the past five editions and we want to build on the successes.

“Each conference has built upon the previous one, bringing together educators, technologists, and policymakers to foster innovation in education. Our goal for the sixth edition is to surpass all previous efforts, making it the most impactful yet.”

She said the sixth edition of the African Edutech Conference will be a landmark event that will bring together stakeholders from across African Continent to discuss and explore the future of education technology.

“It will feature keynote speeches, panel discussions, workshops, and exhibitions showcasing the latest in educational technology innovations,” she added.

She was, however, optimistic that the conference will serve as a catalyst for change, driving forward the digital transformation of education in Africa.
