In view of the abundant hydrocarbon resources in the country, federal government is planning a summit in China to attract global investors into Nigeria.
Speaking at a breakfast meeting in Abuja, Chairman, Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), Dr. Mohammed Shehu, said that the summit is aimed at showcasing Nigeria’s vast investment opportunities across the upstream, midstream, and downstream segments of the petroleum industry.
Also, it will provide investors with first-hand information on ongoing reforms, available investment opportunities, technological innovations, financing options, and policy initiatives aimed at improving the ease of doing business.
“Furthermore, the commission would stick to its constitutional mandates and would not intend to delve into other agencies’ statutory mandates. Our (RMAFC) aim is to collaborate with all agencies in order to make the summit a success.
“As we are aware, Nigeria is blessed with abundant hydrocarbon resources, a strategic geographic location, and a vibrant population with the capacity to drive innovation and growth. However, unlocking the full potentials of our energy sector requires deliberate collaboration with government institutions, investors, industry operators, financial institutions, host communities, and development partners” he said.
According to him, the commission is encouraged by the reforms of President Bola Tinubu”s administration that brought Renewed Hope Agenda which continues to strengthen investor confidence, promote transparency and create a more predictable regulatory environment.
“These efforts underscore our collective determination to ensure that Nigeria remains competitive in attracting responsible and sustainable investments.
The summit is also expected to facilitate business-to-business engagements, policy dialogues, investment matchmaking sessions, technical exhibitions, and networking opportunities that will foster long-term partnerships capable of driving economic growth, increasing local content participation and creating employment opportunities” he said.
In his remarks, the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, who was represented on the occasion by Rear Admiral Patrick Effah, promised a safe maritime environment.
He affirmed that no one would do business with anyone if his security is not guaranteed.
