Rio Ferdinand, a former Manchester United defender, has praised the club following the signing of Matheus Cunha.
Ferdinand expressed his excitement about the midfielder joining the Red Devils.
However, the former centre-back urged the club’s administration to add additional players to the squad.
Many Red Devils supporters were left frustrated this season following their poor finish in the Premier League.
The Red Devils finished the season in 15th position, slightly above relegation zone and would need to reinforce to do better next season.
Rio Ferdinand is calling on those in charge of recruitment to add players who can score goals.
He said on his channel via Metro: “He needs to reboot this attack. We don’t look like we’re going to score goals in open play unless it’s Bruno [Fernandes] or maybe Amad [Diallo].
“We’ve taken Wolves’ top goalscorer[Cunha]this season. He’s got 16 goals to his name in all competitions.
“He’s one of the players that I mentioned a few weeks ago: if I had a shopping list, he would be on there.”
“He knows the Premier League so he doesn’t need any adaptation time. This is a huge factor…”
He noted that Cunha already has the experience and that adaptation would not be an issue.
