The Luminary Project (TLP) has expanded its governance structure with the appointment of five new members to its Board of Directors. The organisation said the expanded board is designed to improve leadership systems, enhance programme delivery and widen its capacity to support change-makers across Nigeria.

TLP, which focuses on finding, fostering, funding and amplifying social innovators, noted that the new board brings broad experience across talent development, technology, business growth, operations and ecosystem building skills, describing it as essential for its next phase of growth.

Founder of the Project, Napa Onwusah, said the appointments were strategic to improving the organisation’s internal systems and expanding its impact. “Africa’s social impact landscape is full of brilliant people doing transformational work, but many lack the leadership support, visibility and systems they need to scale.

“Our board brings decades of experience across sectors that will strengthen our governance, deepen our programmes and help us empower change-makers in more sustainable and intentional ways,” Onwusah said.

The newly appointed members are Ogochuwkwu Onwuzuruike, Collins Ndukwe, Napa Onwusah, Eliezer Ajah, Ebere Nkoro and Funmilola Akinteye. Their backgrounds span enterprise sales, product strategy, project management, digital innovation and ecosystem leadership.

According to TLP, the board’s expertise would help fortify its programme structure, expand partnerships and improve the experience of leaders in its network. The organisation currently runs leadership development programmes, fellowships, storytelling platforms and the annual Luminary Awards, which highlight change-makers driving progress across Africa.

Onwusah added that reinforcing leadership capacity was central to building a more effective social impact ecosystem. “Strong leadership is not a luxury in the social impact sector, it is an operational necessity. This board will help us strengthen the infrastructure that supports change-makers so they can focus on building, leading and solving real problems in their communities.” She said the appointments came ahead of major upcoming initiatives, including the luminary week, the luminary awards and expanded leadership development offerings.
