Security operatives have rescued the nine remaining passengers out of 14 abducted from a bus in Benue State recently.
The passengers had been travelling from Enugu State to Abuja along the Ankpechi–Omutele axis of Ohimini Local Government Area of the state on the night of August 13, when they were abducted along the axis.
The police said they successfully rescued five hostages, including a four-year-old boy, while nine others remained in the custody of the suspected kidnappers.
According to a security source who did not want to be named, security forces launched a night operation after the abduction of the bus passengers.

During the raid, the armed bandits fled the forest and abandoned the remaining victims in Amla-Cho Forest, where they were rescued unharmed.
The source said the victims were given immediate medical attention before being conveyed back to their homes.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Benue State Command, DSP Peter Aondongu, confirmed the development, saying the victims were rescued yesterday, August 20, 2026.
