A former member of the House of Representatives, Oghene Egoh, has commended President Bola Tinubu’s administration for what he described as notable progress in road infrastructure, power supply and education across Nigeria.
Egoh, who represented Amuwo-Odofin Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, made the remarks in Lagos yesterday.
According to the former lawmaker, the current administration has recorded significant achievements in the construction and rehabilitation of roads, while several major infrastructure projects are ongoing in different parts of the country.
He cited the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the Badagry-Sokoto Highway as key projects that are progressing steadily and expected to boost economic activities and improve connectivity across regions.
Egoh also noted improvements in the electricity sector, attributing the development to reforms introduced by the Federal Government. He said the administration had taken deliberate steps to address longstanding challenges in the sector, including the settlement of outstanding obligations owed to electricity companies.

The former legislator added that recent reforms had created opportunities for state governments to play more active roles in power generation and distribution, a move he believes will further improve electricity supply nationwide.
Speaking on education, Egoh praised the administration for expanding access to higher education through the establishment and accreditation of new universities, as well as introducing reforms aimed at strengthening the sector.
He particularly lauded the Federal Government’s student loan scheme, describing it as a major intervention that has helped many students overcome financial barriers to education.
According to him, thousands of students have already benefited from the initiative, while many others continue to access the facility to support their academic pursuits.
Egoh further observed that tertiary institutions have experienced greater industrial harmony in recent years. He said efforts to address lecturers’ outstanding entitlements and ongoing engagements with academic unions had contributed to a more stable learning environment.
Despite the commendation, the former lawmaker stressed that security remains a critical area requiring urgent attention. He advocated the recruitment of forest guards, greater support for local vigilantes and the implementation of state policing to strengthen grassroots security.
He expressed confidence that the Tinubu administration would continue to tackle the nation’s challenges and deliver more democratic dividends to Nigerians.
