There’ll be consequences if INEC fails to re-list APC candidates, says Owan-Enoh

As political parties rounded off their campaigns, ahead of Saturday’s governorship and Assembly elections, Senator John Owan-Enoh has warned that there would be consequences if the Independent National Election Commission (INEC) fails to re-list candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) before tomorrow’s governorship election.

All APC candidates for governorship and House of Assembly elections were on Friday, February 22, delisted from INEC’s list of cleared candidates, over running legal battle between the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Pastor Usani Usani, and Senator John Owan-Enoh.

In the last couple of months, there has been series of court rulings and interlocutory injunctions obtained by both parties, leading to confusion as to who is the authentic candidate of the party in the election.

Enoh, who issued the warning, yesterday, in Calabar, while speaking on the progress of his governorship campaign in the state, as well as other issues affecting the APC in the state, said even in the midst of the controversies surrounding APC candidacy, Cross Riverians should come out en masse and vote for the party.

“Though there will be consequences if the issue is not properly resolved by INEC and the national leadership of the party; the best case scenario, it helps us, and the worst case scenario, it does not help us,” he said.
