Worried by the spate of terrorism and economic downturn in the world, youths from 24 countries are billed to converge on Abuja to brainstorm on how to solve the crises.
The summit is at the instance of the West African Youth Peace Mission (WAYPEM) with the theme: ‘Youth and Peaceful Economic Development.’
WAYPEM Mission President, Professor Prince Godswill, told journalists yesterday in Abuja that some of the participants would be decorated with awards for their sterling contributions to global peace and economic growth.
The expected participating countries are the United States of America, China, Japan, Kenya, Cameroon, South Africa, Iran, Togo, Ghana, Britain, Canada, Pakistan, Venezuela, Brazil, Morocco, Egypt, Ethiopia, Australia, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Syria, Algeria and Libya,
Godswill said: “May we seize this opportunity to intimate Nigeria and the world at large with activities lined up for our 5th world youth peace, security and economic development summit, tagged: Youth and Peaceful Economic Development, which is scheduled to take place on Dec. 8th 2023, in Abuja.
“On that occasion, global leaders across the globe would be honoured with an award of excellence, peace and development.
“The media would be expected to assist other world leaders to unveil the World Peace Centre (WPC) Headquarters, our building project.
“The World Peace Centre is a multi-billion dollar, ultra-modern commercial complex that comprises of a modern specialist university, a bank, an event cent, a multi-purpose training facility, for youths and women, administrative offices, staff quarters, etc.
“As the activities of WAYPEM gains international acceptability, demands for adopting a name that would accommodate other countries as members is widely needed and necessary.
“Thus, in the World Youth Peace, Security and Economic Summit that is coming up on 8th December, 2023 at the Maryam Babangida National Centre for Woman Development Abuja, the mission will automatically be named World Youth Peace and Development Mission (WYPEM).
“At this summit where representatives from the United States of America, China, Japan, Kenya, Cameroon, South Africa, Iran, Togo, Ghana, Britain, Canada, Pakistan, Venezuela, Brazil, Morocco, Egypt, Ethiopia, Australia, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Syria, Algeria, Libya, and all West African countries.
“We also received invitations from presidents of other countries and other international organisation which include: Angola, Libya, Britain, Germany, Cuba, Venezuela, USA Canada, Romania and Ghana, respectively.”
He added: “Suffice it to add that in pursuance of the aforementioned objectives, we identify worthy and deserving governments and personalities with the intent to honour them, as a way of encouraging and supporting them to further succeed through carefully designed programs and initiatives that are tailor-made for them.
“Having monitored meaningful contributions towards promoting the lot of youth over the years, as already high-lighted, we have come to say ‘thank you’, gentlemen of the press.
“May the almighty God grant you longer life and good health and also imbue you with the grace to continue the good works right you have been doing for youths, women and children, across Africa and our continent. Gentle of the forth estate realm, please accept our hearty appreciation.
“It is one of our cardinal beliefs and objectives, that peace is promoted and enhanced, when deserving persons are duly honoured for their good works.
