The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has lauded the appointment of Professor Samuel Oladipo as substantive Vice-Chancellor of Tai Solarin Federal University of Education (TASFUED).
The institution’s Governing Council announced the appointment on Tuesday.
Oladipo, a distinguished Professor of Social Psychology and a foundation faculty member of TASFUED, becomes the third indigenous Vice Chancellor and the sixth substantive Vice Chancellor of Nigeria’s premier University of Education.
In a statement signed by its National Public Relations Officer (PRO), Comrade Samson Adeyemi, NANS described Oladipo’s appointment as “well-earned”.
The national student body said the appointment is not only a recognition of his distinguished academic pedigree and administrative competence but also a defining moment for TASFUED as a foremost institution dedicated to teacher education in Nigeria.
The statement reads, “Your emergence signifies a renewed sense of direction and reinforces confidence in the capacity of the institution to attain greater heights in academic innovation, institutional stability, and governance excellence.
“NANS National Secretariat holds a firm conviction that your extensive experience and deep institutional knowledge will usher in a progressive era characterized by transparency, accountability, and sustainable development.”
NANS expressed optimism that Oladipo’s leadership would further strengthen TASFUED’s reputation as a citadel of learning and a model for educational advancement in the country.
It also pledged its support and cooperation with the institution anchored on the continuous prioritization of student welfare, protection of students’ rights, and the promotion of an inclusive academic environment.
“In light of this, NANS hereby unequivocally pledges its full support and cooperation to your administration.
“We are committed to fostering a constructive and mutually beneficial partnership aimed at ensuring industrial harmony, uninterrupted academic activities, and the holistic development of the student body.
“Our support, however, remains firmly anchored on the continuous prioritization of student welfare, protection of students’ rights, and the promotion of an inclusive academic environment.
“We eagerly anticipate a tenure that will be transformative, student-focused, and globally competitive one that will leave an enduring legacy in the annals of TASUED’s history,” the statement further reads.
