Member of the House of Representatives for Badagry Federal Constituency, Lagos State, Hon. Sesi Whingan has urged Lagos State House of Assembly members to support the new Speaker, Hon. Mojisola Lasbat Meranda.

He made the call in a statement issued by his media team and obtained by Daily Sun on Tuesday.

Meranda emerged as Speaker on Monday after the Lagos assembly members unanimously impeached former Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa.

Whingan said the assembly members support for the new Speaker was necessary to ensure the success of her tenure and the enactment of policies that would enhance development across the state.

Whingan, the Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream), congratulated Meranda on her emergence as Speaker.

The federal lawmaker described her election as a testament to her dedication, leadership, and unwavering commitment to public service.

He expressed confidence in her ability to guide the assembly with wisdom, integrity, and a vision for transformative governance.

“Hon. Mojisola Meranda’s emergence as the Speaker is a reflection of her exceptional track record and the trust reposed in her by her colleagues. I have no doubt that she will lead the Lagos State House of Assembly with distinction and work tirelessly to advance the interests of all Lagosians,” he said.

Whingan emphasised the importance of collaborative leadership and assured Meranda of his full support and cooperation in fostering harmonious relations between the federal and state legislatures for the collective good of the people.

“Together, we can achieve great milestones for Lagos State and Nigeria as a whole. I look forward to working closely with Speaker Meranda and the entire Assembly to fulfill the aspirations of our constituents,” he added.
