Nigeria’s senior national team, the Super Eagles, will face European sides Poland and Portugal in high-profile international friendlies this June, following an encouraging run of results during the March FIFA window in Antalya.

The three-time African champions head into the fixtures on the back of a morale-boosting 2-1 victory over Iran and a hard-fought 2-2 draw against Jordan in a four-nation invitational tournament.

Nigeria opened their campaign in Antalya with a confident win against Iran, with early attacking intent paying off as goals from Moses Simon and Akor Adams secured the result, despite a late response from the Asians.

The Super Eagles followed up with a more evenly contested encounter against Jordan, where they came from behind to lead through strikes from Moses Simon and Emmanuel Fernandez before conceding a late equaliser to settle for a 2-2 draw.

Both matches formed part of a four-team preparatory tournament also involving Costa Rica, relocated to Turkey due to security concerns in the Middle East, and provided head coach Eric Chelle an opportunity to test combinations, assess squad depth, and build cohesion ahead of future assignments.

According to NFF FIFA Match Agent, Jairo Pachon, Nigeria will take on Poland at the PGE Narodowy Stadium in Warsaw on June 3. The team will then travel to Portugal for a second friendly on June 10, with the venue yet to be confirmed.

The clash against Portugal, known as Seleção das Quinas, will serve as their final preparation before heading to the FIFA World Cup finals co-hosted by United States, Canada and Mexico.

Meanwhile, Nigeria will also defend their title at the Unity Cup Tournament scheduled to take place in London from May 26 to 30, as preparations intensify for a demanding international calendar.
