Sri Lanka’s President has appointed a committee to review its Project Offices (POs) and Project Management Units (PMUs).

The offices and units were established to implement or facilitate various projects and programs of the government.

Ranil Wickremesinghe on Tuesday said the committee would comprise three senior government officials.

He said the appointment of this committee was proposed at the interim budget proposal for 2022 on August 30.

According to the president, the committee will examine whether the work done through the POs/PMUs can be accomplished under the respective ministry, department or institution by itself.

He added that it would also look at whether respective tasks assigned to POs and PMUs had been accomplished and whether they could carry out the tasks entrusted to them.

The president said the report containing recommendations of the committee was to be submitted before Nov. 15. (Xinhua/NAN)
