From the classroom to the worship stage, Solomon Obot has transformed a lifelong passion for teaching into a thriving music ministry dedicated to spreading the Gospel. The Nigerian worship leader, songwriter and educator continues to inspire audiences with faith-filled songs rooted in Scripture, personal experiences and hope, while mentoring the next generation of worship leaders and songwriters.
He is a teacher in every sense, with music as his major ‘language’ in communicating the Gospel to his audience.
Prior to his concentration on recording and releasing music, Solomon Obot worked in the field of education for about two decades and honed his passion for teaching and mentoring. His values created in the classroom have become the foundation of his music ministry. After years of teaching, he made a decision to take his music from the classroom to the big stage, with a heart of discipleship through worship.
During his years as a teacher, he directed several musical pieces with students, ranging from works of Nigerian composers such as Sam Ojukwu to Western composers like John Rutter and G.F. Handel. He also directed fullscale musicals such as Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, as well as a stage adaptation of Nina Simone’s Sinnerman that he created and many other productions.

Drawing inspiration from Scripture, personal experience and everyday moments where God’s faithfulness is evident, he writes songs that encourage worship, strengthen faith and offer hope to listeners from all walks of life.
One highlight of Solomon Obot’s musical journey was the Lagos City Chorale, where he trained and toured under the leadership of Sir Emeka Nwokedi. With the choir, he performed at the 10th World Choir Games in South Africa, where they won Gold and Silver awards in international competitions.
He later relocated to Calabar, Cross River State, and worked as a music consultant, choir trainer, music voice coach and adjudicator for music competitions, alongside roles in teaching.
It was only natural that he would establish a structure for imparting his knowledge and values to others, with the founding of a School of Worship, where he mentored singers and aspiring songwriters in worship leadership and songwriting.
Solomon Obot has shown over time that he is dedicated to creating a legacy of original Christian music. He has produced a body of work that continues to expand with approximately 20 songs officially registered with the Nigerian Copyright Commission.
His recent release, Ise Oluwa, is a vibrant fusion of contemporary Christian music and Afrobeat celebrating God’s faithfulness and greatness. Inspired by childhood memories of watching people seek help and breakthrough from many different sources, including young men visiting alfas (Muslim clerics) for financial favours, the song points listeners back to God as the true source of hope, provision and security. Through its message, Ise Oluwa encourages a new generation to place their trust in Christ above every other alternative.
As his catalogue continues to grow, Solomon Obot remains committed to creating music that honours Christ, bridges generations and cultures, and leaves a lasting spiritual impact through worship.
