Ondo State Government has donated relief materials worth N25 million to residents of Ajakpa community in Ese-Odo Local Government Area, following a recent attack by some militants and soldiers in the town.
Men of the Nigerian Army, under Operation Delta Safe (ODS), had allegedly invaded the community after a soldier was alleged to have been killed by suspected militants in the town. During the invasion, many of the residents fled their homes, while several houses and property were destroyed.
The relief materials, including iron sheets, nails, asbestos, mattresses, bags of rice, bags of gari and cartoons of vegetable oil, were presented to the people of the town by the state government.
Presenting the items to the people of Ajakpa community on behalf of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, his deputy, Agboola Ajayi, urged residents of the community to contribute their quota to national security.
Akeredolu, who lamented the destruction done in the community, said the people would be doing themselves great service by reporting people of dubious character to appropriate authorities and advised the people to guide against reoccurrence of military invasion by flushing out criminals as well as their collaborators.
